Youth
Youth Ministry at New McKendree provides resources and opportunities for students in grades 5-12 to engage in life transformation. Our hope is that each student develops a faith that is real and meaningful; something that they take with them beyond graduation. By connecting with adult mentors and other students on the same journey students will grow in their relationship with God. Here are a few of the programs & events available:
Youth Fellowship Ignited (YFi)
Tuesdays from 5:30-8:00 P.M.
Cox Memorial Hall - Youth Activities Center (YAC) 225 S High Street
Fun & Games, Snacks, Bible Teaching & Small Group Discussions
Sunday School - 10:15 A.M. at High Street Campus and 9:15 A.M. at South Campus
A time focused on Bible study.
Our offering supports Jackline Agrey through Compassion International Child Sponsorship. She is from Tanzania, Africa and loves dolls and helping her mom. We provide food, clothing, education, medical care and Christian love and encouragement. We ask students to bring a quarter each week to raise the $38 each month.
All students in 8th grade and above are welcome to participate in Confirmation classes. This group spends time studying the Bible, Christian beliefs and doctrine our Methodist history and faith life. Pastor Bryan & Amanda Bond teach this class from January to April. We take a weekend trip to St Louis to explore other faith practices and we do service projects. At the end of the classes students have the opportunity to reaffirm their baptism and join the church. Follow the link to sign up for the 2019 class.
